Spiritual Leadership Skills
1. Prayer & Word Depth
- Why it matters: Spiritual strength comes from personal devotion. Leaders cannot give what they don’t have.
- Biblical basis: “But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.” (Acts 6:4).
- Practices:
- Pray daily for members by name.
- Study the Word consistently and come with fresh insights for meetings.
- Depend on the Spirit for wisdom and guidance.
Practical Example:
Prepare a short, Spirit-led teaching for your cell instead of copying old notes without prayer.
2. Leading by Example
- Why it matters: People follow what you do, not just what you say. Consistency builds credibility.
- Biblical basis: “Set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” (1 Tim. 4:12).
- Practices:
- Attend services faithfully.
- Be consistent in giving and evangelism.
- Live with integrity—avoid hypocrisy.
Practical Example:
If you teach on evangelism, ensure you are personally bringing new souls to the cell and service.
3. Shepherding with Love
- Why it matters: Members stay in cells where they feel cared for. Love makes leadership sustainable.
- Biblical basis: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Gal. 6:2).
- Practices:
- Celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and small wins.
- Check on sick members with a call or visit.
- Support struggling families with prayer and encouragement.
Practical Example:
If a member loses their job, mobilize the group to contribute and pray for them.
